Pranab Mukherjee, Narendra Modi & B-Stars Congratulate Sania Mirza on Wimbledon Win :


President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi today complimented tennis star Sania Mirza for turning into the first Indian to win the Wimbledon women's doubles title with her Swiss accomplice Martina Hingis.

Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also congratulated the Indo-Swiss pair.
"Many congratulations to @MirzaSania for winning the @Wimbledon doubles title. An incredibly well played match," he tweeted.

12 years in the wake of turning Pro, the 28-year-old tennis champion laid hands on her first ladies' pairs Major title when she and Hingis struggled past the second seeded Russian group of Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina 5 7-6 (4) 7-5 in an exciting last in London.
The trophy added to the list of firsts that Sania has against her name. She had turn into India's first women player to win a Grand Slam when she won the Australian Open with countryman Mahesh Bhupathi in 2009.

Shah Rukh, 49, took to Twitter to wish Mirza on her well deserved win.

Filmmaker-actor Farhan said, "Outstanding Win! Wow! Congratulations @MirzaSania @mhingis you both rocked centre court today!"

Actress Sonakshi Sinhasaid Mirza's victory was an "honour".
